My Original Songs

You can listen to some of my original songs below, while reading the words.

Sunlight shining through leafy tree branches.

The Feeling Within

By Doug Dover

Thinking of things and the way things will be, while slowly tomorrow’s descending in me. I look thru my window and though it’s still dim, appear the visions of the fissions of the feelings within. The feeling, the feeling, the feeling within. The feeling, the feeling within... (Guitar riff with “ah”s vocal harmonies, and guitar arpeggios). The springtime is drawing the flowers to the sun. The chill wind of nighttime now soon will be done. In the morning my friends and my whole family, join hands and be merry, thank God for the day-ay... (long guitar riff). I got a new baby boy today. The feeling inside me I’ve never known. I had a new baby boy today. Thank God for the morning, thank the Lord for the day, and I watched as she rocked, and the dream settled down, and I looked through my window, and out on the lawn... The night wind door closed, and as it opened to dawn, the feeling inside me was a feeling so strong, can you feel it? (guitar walk downs with la la lullaby harmonies to end).

Silhouetted couple watching sunset by ocean.

Our Own Little Wonderland

By Doug Dover

Can you think of a place we can be where the sun shines down, and the sea is near? Picture yourself in your own little dream and we’re here.

(ocean SFX) By the sea. By the sea-ea-ea-ea-ea-.

We could be alone in our own little wonderland, you and me sharing our love, lying side by side in the sand, our wonderland... of joy. (hum) Uh-u-u-u-mm

(Spoken) And the sun hiding behind the clouds, and then peeping out spreading showers of color through the water, while swimming below, we see the glare in the sun’s eye as the clouds sweep her away, leaving us in shadows of night.

And now’s the time to light our fire. It keeps us warm as we gaze into the embers. The future holds all the past we’ve known, all the beauty of love that we’ll always remember.

Now rest your head, and just listen to the waves, and think of our love while the birth of morn opens our eyes, and the smell of it born brings breath to our lives, (modulates up, hum)

u-mm (continues into next song)

(birds chirping, morning music) (Spoken)... “And now... the birth of morn.” “The night was forgotten, and new life was born.”

(sung)... The light, on my window. The sound, of the sparrow. The birth of the morn. The smell of it born. I open my eyes... to nature’s melodies. I can only hear lies in the lives that claim to be free. I seek harmony-ee, in the flowers and the trees. The night’s looking down at the ground, and it’s viewing me and her. We think of our love as an endless harmony, and we’re sure, yes we’re sure, and we share, yes we share. Say you know you, and I know me, and we are we, we’ll live together in our endless harmony, and we’ll be free, just you and me. (many people are heard la la-ing and playing on kazoos fading away)...

Summer Tide

By Doug Dover

Walking on a sandy beach, feeling the summer tide melt slowly round your feet. Walkin’ hand in hand, walkin’ in the sand. We walked in the sea (Very long instrumental with crashing waves, then out to deeper sea, ship & fog horn & SFX) ... And the tide rolled back, and the god he laughed, he was pleasing, he was leaving. And the sorrow that was cast was finally surpassed by the ‘morrow, by the ‘morrow. Come with me we’ll dream together, things that will be all of ever. Don’t you know the after-tide of things will surely be the way it is with you and me... forever. (La la la la’s to end)

Come With Me Forever

By Doug Dover

(chorus) Come with me, follow me to the meadows of comfort and happiness forever.

(verse) Walk with me on a bright afternoon. You and me soul and mind one alone. Mental love from your eyes to my heart, let us know that our love won’t depart.

(chorus) Come with me, follow me to the meadows of comfort and happiness forever.

(verse) Stroll the beach on a bright summer day. Watch the sun melting slowly away. The black water reflecting the moon. The beauty of silence is soon.

(bridge) Safe within us locked in our hearts, is assurance, security, while probing the dark. Our senses are echoed, the night not a coy, yet suddenly our minds, a fulfillment of joy.

(2nd bridge) Yes we’re young one might say now today, and lacking in so many ways. But dear God how I pray that she’ll stay by my side, till somewhere someday aye

She’ll, come with me, and she’ll, follow me to the meadows of comfort and happiness... forever (echoes and fades)

Sunset over rolling hills and wildflowers.
Sunrise over misty forest river landscape.

Misty Reflections

By Douglas Dover

It was misty the night she died. It was misty the night I cried.

I had a dream the other night, that my love came back to me. I saw the light, eternity... I held her hand, harmony.

I see the darkness within my eyes. I feel the silence within my mind.

Oh how I want her back in my arms. Instead of lingering about my mind. I need her softness, I need her touch, to melt my sorrow into dust.

It was misty the night she died, and now it’s misty about my mind.

On Earth

By Douglas Dover

Ask the question why... getting no reply, the blue horizons sinking slowly out of sight, the clouds drift away from the sun, the night brings shadows on earth and, we are still here. Ask the question who... giving no reply, the sparkling multicolored missionary man stood in the starlight on the sand and, silently he, walked upon the sea.

Hearing, seeing, and believing, slowly I can feel me leaving, if I find my way back home, I know I wouldn’t feel alone.

Earth with digital network connections, space background.

An aftermath of dream and sorrow, what will the dream become tomorrow, lead the way I’ll surely follow... Into the light. (building volume to crescendo) La La La La La La La La La La La La, La La La La La, I’m on my way "Hey", La La La La La, La La La La La La La, La La La La La, We shall be free "We", (Two La La La La La’s) & (Building loudness to final crescendo) La La La La La La La La, La La La La La... I’m on my way "Hey", La La La La La, La La La La La La La, La La La La La, We shall be free "We", La La La La La, La La La La La La La, La La La La La...
(Ending meshed chordings with echoing arpeggios)

Starry night sky over distant mountains.

I'm going well I'm going well I'm gone
Home on the road all alone
How can I keep drivin’ on
I guess I’ll just have to be strong

Why must I leave you behind
And why can't the whole world be kind
I love you I love you I do
It's driving me out of my mind

Oh honey don't/when I come back, honey don't
Say you won't see me no more
Cause once I find what I'm looking for
I'll be back knockin' at your door
La La La La La Lee
La La La sing harmony
Yes once I’ve found what I’m looking for
I’ll be back knockin’ at your door

I love you I love you my Lee
Your love brings me sweet memory
The fields and the forests of our youth
I speak of our love of our truth

I'm going well I'm going well I'm gone
Home on the road all alone
I'm going well I'm going well I'm gone
Ohhhh...            Ohhhh...           Ohhhh.

Lavender field under starry purple night sky.

The Purple Palisades

By Doug Dover

Conglomeration of molecules, absorbing brain-lit afterglows

Within our minds machinery, is life of thought, infinite galaxies, seas of words

Within your mind, do you have a place to go? A place far away from time, away from sorrow, a way to see our lives tomorrow?

The Purple Palisades... (long guitar riff)

Do you have a place to go... A place of tranquility? Do you have a place to hide? Is there such a place in the Purple Palisades of your mi-yind (guitar riff)

Focus your eyes. Focus your mind, to the changing of the ti-i-i-i-i-i-i-imes. Color it with the innocence of your mi-i-i-i-i-i-i-ind. /Ah Ah (drum round) Ah Ah(drum round) Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah, Ah Ah Ah...Ah...Ah (guitar riff to end)

Man stargazing under a starry night sky.

Time and Today

By Douglas Dover

Time and today, we’ve come a long way
Look to the stars, we’ve gotten this far
(chorus) Ask them why anyway, ask them what can we say.
Show us that our words may bring a new day

(verse) It’s Sunday today. You can feel it all day.
Not a cloud in the sky, and I’m wondering why.

(chorus) Ask them why anyway, ask them what we can say.
Show us that our words may bring a new day-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay

(bridge) People people people listen listen, he is really real, and
he feels your feelings. So go on and know him, go beyond your kneeling, really feel his feeling, you can feel the healing all day.

Try to make everyday closer to the Lord’s way
And you'll see how happy in this world we could be.
So look to the stars, we’ve gotten this far (starts to fade)
You will know who you are. You will know who you are (fades completely). You will know who you are, when you look to the stars.

Stone well surrounded by lush greenery.

The Well of Springtime Past

By Douglas Dover

If we all believed, the birds would sing their songs so when we hear them, we would hear God's words, and learn what to say, and do every day. God’s spirit is forever near. I pray it moves us on our way. To save a life, a world, a seed, to ask to know, to grow, to need. Seasons change, and rearrange. The warming winters make the springs which feed the well where all life sings, and all shall pass remembering... All life's accounting, everything.

Deep in a forest at the end of your path, you'll pass the well of springtime past. Looking down, and in at last, you'll hear God’s words, and feel God's grasp. Hear clearly while still within God's hands, the question asked through all the lands. Throughout all time to all mankind. To everyone in every tongue. In light recite, and earn to choose. Learn them now, and never lose... "What are the Ten Commandments?”

See on earth as Christ could, now. We must first on earth learn how. As you steer from the helm of your soul's command, with a warm heart forgive, follow the path, stay on it, and live.

Spiritual energy in recent centuries moved stone impossibly, moved masses, made galaxies... And developed the character of man.

See down from a meadow in the night from the hills, lights in a harbor, see the flicker, and glow. It's starlight reflected from a ship’s mast and sills. It’s there waiting, and ready. Are you ready to go? With full sails drawn at dawn in the dew, see clearly through the fog with the three within you. It's the light in the night guiding as well, and then who... Fuels the days remembering.

From deep within the well of springtime past, spiritual harmonies echo out within hearing, to deep in the forest where your path end is nearing. You may still earn divine council by a rock in a clearing, for help in choosing: to board ship with headings toward home? Or, to rest here forever, in peace not alone. Remember the ten as you go on life's way, and stay on the path as you harvest and cast. Then from light, to light, with light may you pass.

Eternity

By Douglas Dover (Written in 7th Grade Brownell Jr, High GP MI)

Soft winds swept over sandy beaches mid-afternoon on a lovely, warm Spring day. It was the magnificent beauty of the ocean spray that made me ponder over the past. The future was far beyond imagination. The present lay in a dying broth of eternal regret. Far out at sea there was a shadow of stillness, and of death. Although the waves seemed filled to the rim with life and destruction, there lacked one essential element of beauty. The sky also lacked this element. As I pondered, deep in thought, suddenly, the horrifying past came back to me.

I was at a party last night having a great time. After the party, I strolled down to the beach. It was the moonlight on the water that attracted me there. I was about to turn homeward, when a sudden distant siren broke the silence. It was a siren I was not familiar with, and didn’t know quite what it meant. Then, as if in an instant, the earth was vibrating as though an earthquake was erupting in the distance. I looked into the sky and saw about thirty aircraft flying overhead. Moments later there were thirty more. The ground shook, and I screamed this can’t be. I fell down lying there, and the next thing I knew, I awoke in the morning to the heat of the sun.

I looked into the sky, and saw only emptiness above. I gazed out to sea, and heard only the eternal roar of the waves. I listened, for the familiar sound of the seagulls, and wondered where they had gone. Were the thirty shadows I saw in the night real? Was there damage done by wings of steel? Then I thought to myself, “Am I alone? Is this eternity?”

The Following is One of My Mother's Original Poems

Poem by My Mom, Dorothy Dover
( Sept.16th, 1921 - May 3rd, 2003):

Two children outside a suburban house.

Today we sold our little home.
We lived there 8 full years.
It saw us thru some crucial times.
Saw all our hopes and fears.
We say it saw - well, could it see? -
If it had eyes - that cannot be!
If that were so, and it could see,
It must have heard - so it had ears.
Oh no! but most agree

It did have personality!
It had a feeling all its own.
Individually stood alone.
The more we think about our place,
The more sure we become -
The smile upon its front-door face -

Its charm, and beauty, and its grace
The way it joined in all our fun -
It had a soul like everyone.
We can remember at times
it was sad
But only if someone there was mad.
We can remember at times it would sing
Its windows would shine - its laughter ring.
It was almost as tho' our home could talk.
Today we had to say farewell -
To our home we loved so well.
As we pulled away about to depart -
It said "I'll live always - within your heart."
